Interior Design: 2018 Trends in the Contract Sector

The key word of the Interior Design’s trends for 2018 in the Contract sector is Nature. Colors and styles will reflect, in fact, a greater sensitivity towards the environment in all its forms, from the use of decorative plants and flowers that will transform the space in an indoor garden up to high-tech zero impact ideas.

Among the most used materials we will find brass, a warm color metal perfect to give personality even to the most sober and minimal spaces, natural wood that gives serenity and harmony to the interiors, rattan and wicker to be used for objects evocative of the 70s and, finally, a great return: velvet, a chic yet comfortable fabric that can give a sophisticated twist to any space. It will embellish sofas, armchairs, chairs and cushions in shades of dark blue-green, bordeaux, grey and green. Marble is reconfirmed in 2018 as the most sought-after material – either light, dark, veined or uniform – used for elegant tables, dining rooms, meeting rooms or hotel halls.

Key styles will be a mix between industrial design and vintage chic: minimal, but yet with a more accentuated retro flavour given by the use of recycled materials, lived-in furnishings, floors and walls decorated with geometric patterns and optical designs.

As for the colours, the “statement touch” will be given by Red – baroque, Scandinavian, modern or country – a trend coming from the catwalks that has seduced also the furniture and design industry. A great return that will not fail to surprise us with palette combinations of great effect!
